Young Eagles Converge at the Sault Ste. Marie AirportThe young eagles program has been developed by the EAA Aviation foundation to welcome young people into the world of aviation. Children between the ages of 8 and 17 years of age, that have not yet had the opportunity of experiencing flight in an airplane, are given a free ride in an aircraft. Over the past number of years, this event has been organized by the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie as part of the yearly Rotaryfest. A number of local aviators donate their time, and aircraft, to provide dozens of young people with their first experience of flight. The Sault Search and Rescue volunteers also assist to organize the event. In addition there are some static displays. Below are some pictures from the 2006 event.
